I write this brief message to ask for your assistance. The Latino Resource Center at Chicago State University provides more than $10,000 worth of scholarships to Latino/a students each year. The funds for the scholarship come from a scholarship dinner that the center and its advisory committee put on each year. The past two years have been particularly difficult in terms of fundraising. We have had to dip into reserves to meet scholarship obligations. So, we are trying to get more and more creative in our fundraising efforts. Thus, I am asking you to help.


Two years ago I put together a small package of Chicano hip hop stuff including cds, stickers, my book and t-shirts. We auctioned off these materials and earned a couple of hundred dollars for the scholarship fund. Krazy Race's contributions were invaluable. This year I want to ask you and others to contribute what you can to the auction. This could include cds, stickers, posters, t-shirts, promotional items, photos, dvds or any other item that promotes your work and that could earn the scholarship fund some money.


These scholarships have meant the difference between graduating and not for many Latino students over the past decade. For some, like our undocumented students, this is the only source of outside income that they get. Please consider contributing to this important cause.
